Watson Stirrup Architects have been commissioned by the Governors of the School, (following a selection procedure and interview), to design an extension to an existing key stage 1 classroom and the creation of a new classroom extension for key stage 2 pupils.
The scheme was designed in close consultation with the client body. The scheme gained Planning Approval in January 2008.
The Primary School is located within a Conservation Area. The original school building has been extended previously, but its core is that of a typical Victorian building which is prominent on the side of a hill.
Sensitive design issues have been addressed and the aesthetic of the main extension reflect the materials used in the original building. The scale and massing of the main extension neatly fits and compliments the original building.
